Valerie Whiteside and her Husky mix Tundra share the same favourite restaurant: The Hockley General Store near Orangeville, ON.
In warm weather pets are welcome on the patio, and in the winter there’s a heated breezeway where guests can dine with their dogs, too. “The servers will usually bring a bowl of water,” says Valerie, “and if the pup is lucky, a plate of bacon!” Bonus: the nearby Bruce Trail offers opportunities to hike, explore, and burn off that bacon.
Expert Tip
Tundra has doggie etiquette down to a tee. When he and Valerie enter a dog-friendly establishment, he’s always on his best behaviour. “Being respectful of other patrons that may be uncomfortable with dogs is a must,” says Valerie and Tundra totally agrees.
