When it came time for summer vacation, Mikey refused to be left behind so Animal Care Expert and Devoted Pet Lover Shelley Garner cancelled the dog sitter and loaded up the minivan for the family’s East Coast vacation.
It turned out to be the best decision. Aboard the Northumberland Ferry from New Brunswick to PEI (which welcomes dogs to travel alongside pet parents), typically shy Mikey charmed fellow travellers, mingled on the passenger deck and graciously accepted hugs and pats from dog lovers, young and old.

Expert Tip
On a bun with ketchup and mustard, a hotdog is a beautiful thing. In a car, a hot dog is an unhappy dog. Mikey and Shelley recommend packing plenty of cooling products for a long car ride, including a cooler to keep Mikey’s food fresh. And of course, never leave your dog alone in a hot car.
