General Questions What happens during the contest period? To be considered for the contest, you can upload one picture along with the accompanying story per day from May 6, 2026, 9am ET to May 26, 2026, 12pm ET. From May 27, 2026, 9am ET to June 2, 2026, 12pm ET, voting is open to everyone to help us choose the photos you think should make it into our 2027 Pet Valu calendar. Do I need to have an online Your Rewards™ account with Pet Valu to enter the contest? Yes. This is a requirement for this year’s contest. If you don’t currently have a Pet Valu online account, not to worry! By submitting your pet in the contest, we will set you up with a Pet Valu online account in this process. If you already have an in-store Your Rewards™ loyalty account but no online account, we’ll automatically merge the Your Rewards™ loyalty account with your new Pet Valu online account. Make sure to use the same email address, full name, and phone number on your loyalty account to enter the contest! If you have an existing Pet Valu online Your Rewards™ account, make sure to use the same email to enter the contest to make the contest experience faster!

How can I access my NEW Pet Valu online account that was created? STEP 1: Go to petvalu.ca

STEP 2: Click on Sign In in the top-right corner

STEP 3: Click on Forgot Password. A new pop-up will appear, titled Reset Password

STEP 4: Enter the same email address you used for submitting your pet contest entry and click on Send Email. The email with the instructions on how to reset your password will be sent to the email address provided

STEP 5: Go to your inbox and follow the instructions for resetting the password

STEP 6: Once you’ve re-set the password, you can log into your account using the same email address and the new password

What are the eligibility criteria for photos? Please submit photos in JPG, PNG, or WEBP format with a file size no smaller than 640KB and 3000px tall. Colour photos are accepted. Please do not include borders, frames, watermarks, signatures, copyright notices, or artistic filters. Ensure your photos meet the criteria for portrait, landscape or square, quality, size, and format. Once an entry has been submitted, it cannot be edited, rotated, replaced, or deleted. How do I vote for my choices for the calendar contest? View each entry one at a time. If you want to vote for an entry, swipe-right (on mobile) or click the heart icon (on desktop) to cast your vote. If you think an entry is cute but not quite right for the 2027 calendar, swipe-left (on mobile) or click the back arrow icon (on desktop). You get unlimited votes and can come back any time between May 27, 2026, 9am ET and June 2, 2026,12pm ET, so have fun with it!

Tips for the best photo? This year’s calendar is all about celebrating those special moments with our pets. Make sure your pet is in focus and that the background complements them – we love to see classic Canadian scenery from our beautiful country. Can I enter more than one pet? Yes, of course! You can enter one photo each day throughout the contest period. We believe every photo tells a story, and we want to see them all! Feel free to submit a different photo of your pet each day, or one for a different pet. Just a heads-up: a photo featuring more than one pet will count as one entry.

Can I enter my pet who has crossed the rainbow bridge? We are sorry for your loss. We think that entering a passed pet is a beautiful tribute, and we welcome your entry. Please note that entering this pet will set up an online profile for them in your account. If you are sensitive to reminders of your pet, we would not recommend this.

I live in Quebec or the Territories, can I enter? Unfortunately, currently the contest is only open to Canadian residents, excluding Quebec and the Territories.

I entered a photo, where can I view all submissions? You can view all your own submissions by filling in your email address on the entry page. New submissions may sometimes take a few minutes to appear. Remember, only one entry is possible each day. All other entries from other pet lovers will be visible once voting starts!

What are the prizes and incentives? We'll select 13 pet photo winners to feature in our 2027 Calendar. Twelve of these photos will be featured as a ‘Pet of the Month,' while one lucky pet will grace the front cover. Also, during the contest entry period from May 6-26, 2026, there will be 3 gift card winners. Each week, 1 entry will be randomly drawn to win a $300 gift card.

What is the weekly prize? The weekly prize is a $300 gift card that can be used at any Pet Valu, Paulmacs, Bosley’s, Tisol, or Total Pet stores. There will be one (1) winner announced each week between May 6-26, 2026, on Instagram. Follow @petvalu on Instagram so you don’t miss finding out who the winners are!

How do I participate in the weekly prize draws? All you need to do is submit a photo for a chance to win. Each entry increases your chances of winning, so feel free to submit multiple photos! The odds of winning a gift card depend on the total number of eligible entries at the time of the draw.

Some pictures look like they’re from professional photographers. Will my pet be judged fairly? You and the Pet Valu community across Canada get to help decide which pets make it into this year’s calendar by individually voting on all your favourite choices. The final winning pet photos will be chosen by a panel of internal judges to ensure fairness in representation of all pet types, different levels of photo quality, and locations across Canada. The odds of winning depend on how many entries are received.

How are calendar winners judged and selected? The public votes on all their favourite pet photos, with no limits! The finalists, including 13 pet photos and their calendar placements as a pet of the month or on the front cover, will then be chosen from a short-list of the top photos by a panel of internal judges to ensure fairness in representation of all pet types, different levels of photo quality, and locations across Canada.

When and where will the winners be announced? Winners will be announced on June 24, 2026 at 9am ET, right here just in time for Canada Day, as well as Pet Valu's Instagram and email platforms. Make sure to follow and subscribe so you don’t miss out on this update.

When will the calendar be available, how much will it cost? Look for the calendar in our stores this fall. It will be available for a ‘give-what-you-can' donation with all proceeds supporting Companions for Change™ – our giving back program dedicated to supporting causes that help pets and pet parents in need in their local community, and across Canada.

Why isn’t my entry being submitted? We’re sorry to hear that you are experiencing difficulties. Please check that your photo file meets the size and format requirements. Minimum file size for contest eligibility is 640KB and 3000px tall. The maximum file size is 10 MB. Images must be in JPG, PNG, or WEBP format. Unfortunately, no other formats are accepted.

If your photo meets the above requirements, but you are still receiving an error message, please ensure that your Internet browser is fully up to date. May we also suggest clearing your cache and cookies. If the problem persists, please try re-submitting using a different browser. We recommend using Firefox or Chrome if possible.

I entered the wrong photo; can I replace it? We’re sorry, but we are unable to delete or replace photos once they have been submitted. Remember, you can submit one photo + memory per day until the entry period ends.

I submitted a photo; how do I know if my entry was received? You should receive a confirmation email within a few minutes of submitting your photo to the address you provided on the entry page. You can also use this email address to view all your own submissions anytime.

Can I enter a photo someone else took of my pet? Yes, if you own the photo rights or have the photographer's permission.

How can I see how many votes my pet photo(s) has? Unfortunately, the number of votes each pet photo receives is not visible to the public or the individual entrants.
